What matters in a water test

Hardness, measured in grains per gallon, decides whether a softener is needed and how big it has to be. The disinfectant matters because most Broward utilities use chloramine, which decides the type of carbon. Iron matters because it stains and fouls softener resin.

On a private well, hydrogen sulfide and bacteria matter too. Sulfide announces itself by smell. Bacteria gives no warning at all, and a reliable bacteria result needs a lab test.

Why we won't quote without it

Softener sizing is arithmetic based on your hardness reading and your household's water use. Without the reading it's a guess, and a guessed softener either regenerates constantly or channels and stops softening.

Well systems are worse to guess at, because there's no utility report to fall back on. Two houses on the same street in Sunshine Ranches can draw from different depths and need different equipment.

Sometimes the answer is that you're fine

Not every house needs a full system. If you're on a supply that already tests reasonably and nothing in the results is out of line, we'll tell you that and leave. That's a better outcome than selling equipment that doesn't earn its place.

Where we install it

We cover west Broward. Each city sits on a different supply, so the same equipment gets sized differently depending on where you are.

Questions about free water test

Do I have to buy anything after the test?

No. We'll tell you what the results mean and what we'd recommend, and the decision is yours. Getting another quote before a decision this size is reasonable.

Can't I just use a test strip from the hardware store?

Strips give you rough hardness and not much else. They won't reliably read chloramine, iron or dissolved solids, and they won't tell you anything about bacteria. They're a decent way to confirm you have a problem, and not enough to size equipment from.

Which areas do you test in?

Weston, Davie, Southwest Ranches, Miramar and Pembroke Pines are our core area, and we also cover Sunrise, Plantation, Cooper City and Parkland.
